For our digital printing department, we've taken advantage of the recent advancements made in digital technology. You no longer need to worry about whether litho presses produce a better-quality print or not.
In fact, there are many benefits to digital printing, such as better cost efficiency on short runs, faster turnarounds, and more flexibility in finishes. Within our digital department, we have printers from leading brands including Landa (the UK's first nanographic press), HP, and Xerox!
The main body of our digital department is made from our Xerox iGen collection which is particularly well suited to short-run work. Our iGen 150 and one of our iGen 5 models have four loading trays, meaning we can set up four jobs of different stock types at once. The presses can then move directly from one job onto the next with minimal downtime.
Thanks to this flexibility, our iGens are responsible for producing orders that require alternative papers. This includes our creative stock range, which may be textured or coloured, as well as our adhesive stock for stickers.
Apart from our iGens, our HP Indigo is the only other toner-based printer in the factory. Because of this, it is responsible for many short-run orders of flat and folded products, such as flyers, folded leaflets, or posters.
The indigo is a highly automated machine, meaning that we can keep productivity high even between jobs. With two drawers and a pile feeder, the Indigo does not have to be interrupted just to change stocks. The Indigo also has a number of pre-programmed print cues for different product sizes and specifications.
After installing the HP Indigo 10,000 back in 2018 and were impressed by the quality and turnarounds these presses could offer. The HP Indigo 100,000 is the world's most productive B2 digital solution with true digital non-stop print capabilities, at 6,000 sheets per hour. Designed to improve our competitive short runs and digital print capabilities, this has improved our digital efficiency by over 60%.
Alongside our HP Indigo 100,000, we also welcomed our first HP Indigo 12,000. Reinventing print production, the HP Indigo 12,000 complements our existing digital equipment, giving us more capacity in flat and folded work with a short-medium run length for increased versatility and optimum output.
The UK's first Landa S10P is at Route 1 Print!
We are the proud owners of the UK’s first nanographic press – a new printing technology that is set to revolutionise the industry. This new press combines offset methodology with a digital operating system. So you get the best of both worlds.
Nanoink is made up of pigment particles which are less than 100 nanometers wide. At this size, the particles no longer reflect white light, so you can see the full colour vibrancy of your print. 27.4 billion ink drops are deposited every second with this press.
This ink is applied to a heated blanket before being transferred to the substrate. Heating the blanket causes the ink to start drying immediately so each droplet maintains integrity when it hits the stock, keeping your image sharp. It also means less ink is absorbed into the paper, and therefore less ink is wasted.
